RCD protection

The statement "Adding sockets to existing sockets does not require fitting an RCD" is wrong if new cables are laid. The cables must follow the rules here Cable_Routes_and_Protection or have RCD protection. The 17th edition also requires all socket outlets (apart from a very few) to have RCD protection. Whilst I would not be concerned about say adding an extra non RCD socket next to an existing socket at the back of a TV I would be very concerned about adding another socket that could be used for taking power outside.--ARWadsworth 11:02, 17 April 2011 (BST)
