It may be used that way in some areas but that doesnt make it so, nor does one usage make it the only correct usage. I doubt you'll find any electronic engineer that will second the opinion that 500v is LV. Hopefully the rewording is clearer and more accurate, and acknowledges the variation in usage of the term. The definitions of ELV/LV/HV come from IEC 61201 which are not freely available on the web, though there may be various drafts or national standards based on it available.

I realise that in common parlance, LV is taken to have a different meaning to the definition, hence just wanting to make that clear to one and all.
