When I built my own system, my approach was very much a first fix (empty cabinet, back boxes, cables) followed by a second fix (patch panel, RJ45 face plates, initial patching). This was partly because the face plates arrived late, but really the two stages need completely different tools - and the break gives an opportunity to remove most of the mess. Would the article benefit from restructuring along these lines, or will the typical DIYer looking at these pages work out their own plan of attack? - Richard.
