Hitachi DH24PC3 Three Mode SDS-Plus Hammer Drill

  • Had mine for 6 months. It is light, controllable and surprisingly efficient for wall chiselling (brick and thermalite block) and for tile removal. Drilling into brick is effortless compared to a normal hammer drill. Have also used successfully for small core drilling (around 25 mm). Only problem has been that chuck failed, but that was dealt with in a few days under warrenty (repaired by Hitachi).

Aldi 8kg 1500W SDS

Apparantly made by Walter of Austria

  • Cheap, big, heavy, robust. Suitable for heavier breaking, heavy drilling and mixing plaster. Not recommended for overhead work due to weight.
