Earthing Types

BS 7671 lists five types of earthing system:

  • TN-S
  • TN-C-S
  • TT
  • TN-C
  • IT

Where those letters indicate:

  • T = Earth (from the French word Terre)
  • N = Neutral
  • S = Separate
  • C = Combined
  • I = Isolated
