Marble

Although pretty,

  • marble is a soft stone, easily broken.
  • it's absorbent, staining readily.
  • it's vulnerable to acid, and damaged by food acids.
  • it's damaged by normal household cleaners

A few strategies are used to address this:

  • seal the stone well
  • don't use marble on the floor
  • use imitation marble tiles
