Although pretty,
- marble is a soft stone, easily broken.
- it's absorbent, staining readily.
- it's vulnerable to acid, and damaged by food acids.
- it's damaged by normal household cleaners
A few strategies are used to address this:
- seal the stone well
- don't use marble on the floor
- use imitation marble tiles
