removing gas meters
gas regulations prevent me from removing my gas meter. The supplier doesn't want to remove it, or wants to charge me £143 for them to do so as an alteration to their supply. I refused.
I removed all the consumer side gas piping, which is my property. This leaves the meter outlet exposed. I pointed out to the supplier that this was a danger, but they ignored me. They also kept sending bills for the meter rental because it was still on the premises.
The only solution, since the supplier wasn't interested, was to go direct to the area utilty provider and report an unsafe gas installation. An emergency fitter soon arrived and disconnected and capped the main inlet pipe.
I took dated photographs as evidence. I am ignoring the continuing billing demands. How long must I wait until I can sling their meter in the skip, I wonder?
