Domestic Hot water ("DHW") is the name given to hot water supplied via taps, showers etc for washing and bathing.

Depending on how it is supplied it may or may not be good for drinking although in terms of installation it is considered as "potable" and should not be harmful to ingest, so substances such as Lead (e.g. in solder) must not be used in installations. (In terms of the Water Regulations DHW is Fluid category 2 whereas cold drinking water is category 1 and water containing raw sewage is category 5.)
